Source: New Richmond Record 28 Jan 1915

John H. Fowler of Danville, ill committed suicide at his home sometime Saturday night, the details of his death being meager. Mr. Fowler was engaged in the real estate business in Danville for the past 5 years.  Prior to that he was in the hardware business and owned stores in Attica, Waynetown and New Richmond.  He owned the building and stock of the big hardware store in New Richmond and lived in the home now occupied by J. C. McMillin and family.  No reason is given for his rash act unless it be sickness or financial reverses.  Mr. Fowler was known as a man of good judgment and good business ability. He leaves a large family.   -- kbz
